That’s ridiculous and downright insulting but she saved the day with a beautiful speech.
Makes sense, too, she is a champion and that’s what champions do. They save the day.
His sexism belongs in the past. Ada Hegerberg’s speech is a good sign of where football is heading 👏🏼👏🏼 pic.twitter.com/NFxjV8uqXH

In her powerful speech, she said:
It’s history for Ada Hegerberg.

She thanked her family and the French football for the honour.
And in the end, left with the most inspiring message.
I would like to end my speech with some words for young girls all over the world. Please, believe in yourself.
Ada Hegerberg was the best player for the best team in European football and arguably the world at the age of TWENTY THREE.Upon winning the first ever Ballon D’Or, you can ask permission to kneel at her feet. That’s the question you can ask. pic.twitter.com/ESZWvne8ff

With 54 goals last year and 53 this time, the 23-year-old was an obvious choice for the trophy.
And before this, she won the 2016 UEFA Best Women’s Player in Europe Award, and was named BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year in 2017.
