Ada Hegerberg won the first-ever Ballon d’Or for women.

And then she was asked if she can twerk

That’s ridiculous and downright insulting but she saved the day with a beautiful speech.

Makes sense, too, she is a champion and that’s what champions do. They save the day.

In her powerful speech, she said:

She thanked her family and the French football for the honour.

And in the end, left with the most inspiring message.

I would like to end my speech with some words for young girls all over the world. Please, believe in yourself.

With 54 goals last year and 53 this time, the 23-year-old was an obvious choice for the trophy.

And before this, she won the 2016 UEFA Best Women’s Player in Europe Award, and was named BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year in 2017.
