India’s star sprinter Hima Das has been ruled out of Doha World Championships due to back injury.

Hima’s name was missing from the list sent by AFI (Athletics Federation of India) to IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations), as the sports body noted:

Unfortunately, 400m athlete Hima Das will not compete at the World Championships in Doha due to a back injury.

The juniour world champion was named in 4x400m relay and 4x400m mixed relay teams by the AFI but it was later announced that she wouldn’t be able to participate in the tournament that is starting from September 27.

Hima had been in touch of form earlier this year where she won 4 gold medals in 200m events in Europe.

However, she later failed to qualify for the 400m race for Doha as she had trouble running long distances. In a good news, though, Dutee Chand will be participating in the 100m race after receiving invitation from the IAAF itself.
