A match-winning 5/42 in the final innings of the second Test between India and Sri Lanka has taken R Ashwin to 8th spot in ICC Test rankings for bowlers.

The Chennai offie has been brilliant in Sri Lanka and, with 17 wickets, is the highest wicket-taker. He now has 769 points.

Ashwin overtook Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath after the Test in the list topped by South Africa’s Dale Steyn, who has 905 points.
