An important second innings hundred by Ajinkya Rahane and two late wickets by R Ashwin has set up the game beautifully for India going into the final day of the second Test against Sri Lanka at Colombo.
India needed quick runs on Day 4 and Rahane obliged with a well-paced 126. He got good support from Murali Vijay (82). Tharindu Kaushal and Dhammika Prasad picked up 4 wickets each for the hosts.
Chasing 413 to win, Lanka needed a good start but lost Kaushal Silva (1) early to Ashwin. Out came Kumar Sangakkara for the last time in his career and played some crisp drives.
But the legend couldn’t cope with Ashwin’s turn for the 4 th time in as many innings and was out for 18. SL need another 341 runs to win with 8 wickets left on the final day.
