Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a stellar finisher in the game of limited overs cricket, something that we cannot take away from him. I mean, who can forget the six over long on to clinch the 2011 World Cup amidst numerous other instances where he has been the one to successfully wield his axe.
But his prowess at finishing is not limited to cricket! MSD carries the same grace and elan onto the football pitch as well. We’ve seen videos of him play football during practice and he’s shown sparks of brilliance there too. After all, he was a goalkeeper for his school team before making the switch to cricket.
In 2013, a charity match took place that featured Indian cricketers pitted against Bollywood stars. The All Stars Football Club, led by Abhishek Bachchan, faced Virat Kohli’s All Heart Football Club, at Delhi’s Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, with the game ending at 4-3 in favour of the cricketers, despite the actors giving them a hard time.
The highlight of the game was Dhoni’s brilliant goal off Virat Kohli’s pass. Captain Cool did a brilliant chest-control before sprinting past the defenders to coolly slot home, proving that he is a finisher even on the football field.
