The 36-year-old had some solid support from Trent Boult who picked up 3 scalps. That makes Boult the joint leading wicket-taker at the World Cup along with teammate Tim Southee. Both of them have 13 wickets at the 2015 WC.

Chasing a target of 187, New Zealand made short work of the total. Guptill scored 57 and Brendan McCullum added 42 as the Kiwis reached 188/4 with 6 wickets and 83 balls to spare.
With the result, New Zealand have all but sealed top spot in Pool A while Afghanistan are out of the World Cup.
