Pakistan cricketer Zubair Ahmad has died after he was hit by a bouncer during a match.

According to media reports, Zubair, who use to play for the List A and Twenty20 team Quetta Bears in Pakistan, was hit in the head while playing in the club match on August 14.

The tragic news was shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board on their Twitter account.

The incident has brought the safety rules in cricket back into focus. 

Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes lost his life in November 2014 after the 26-Test old player was struck by a bouncer in Sheffield Shield match at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Recently, Australia’s vice-captain David Warner was hit in the head by a bouncer from Josh Hazelwood during a warm-up match. 

Warner passed a concussion test following the blow but will sit out of the final day of the match.
