Indian batsmen, topped by Lokesh Rahul, put up a good show on the opening day of the second Test between India and Sri Lanka at Colombo.

The visitors had a horrific start and were down to 12/2, but Rahul (108) and captain Virat Kohli (78) had an important 164-run partnership for the 4 th wicket to gain control.

The Karnataka-man completed his second Test ton but got out soon after that and the pressure fell on Rohit Sharma, who coped well with a fighting 79.

Rangana Herath (2/73) and Dhammika Prasad (2/72) were the best bowlers for the hosts. India would be hoping that their tail fires so that they can get past 400.
