In modern football, there’s no debate bigger and fiercer than Messi vs Ronaldo.
Most people choose one over the other and now Indian skipper Virat Kohli has joined that bandwagon.

Being an inspiration for many, Virat Kohli himself looks up to Portugal & Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, reports News18.

On being asked who has had a greater career, Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, Kohli revealed Ronaldo was his all-time favourite footballer and above everyone else.
Speaking to FIFA.com, he said:
For me, Cristiano is above everyone else. His commitment and work ethic is unmatched. He wants it that bad — you can see it every game.

Many would have dodged this debate with a diplomatic answer but Kohli being the straightforward person he is, went on, saying:
In my opinion, he (Ronaldo) has taken on more challenges and succeeded at all of them. He’s the most complete player. I have seen and his work ethic, as I mentioned, is unmatched. He inspires people. I don’t think many people do that. He’s also a leader and I love that. Absolutely love it. He has amazing belief too.

Ending the conversation on a youthful note, Kohli said he believes Kylian Mbappe will soon take over as the best footballer in the years to come.
He said:

Mbappe stands out for me. His sprint in the 2018 World Cup against Argentina is hard to forget. He’s a beast and he will definitely be at the top of the pile for me. (He is) Absolutely a top-class player.

Virat Kohli is currently in the United States where India will play West Indies in two T20 Internationals.
