India has finally arrived at the ongoing Rio Olympics and how!

A late bloomer on the medal tally, it took some herculean efforts and enormous heart from our female sportspersons to turn things around. Once Sakshi Malik clinched bronze in the women’s 58 kg freestyle wrestling, the Indian Olympic campaign suddenly caught momentum. And with shuttler PV Sindhu smashing her way through to the singles finals and ensuring at least a silver, India finally looks to heave a sigh of relief.

While the nation erupted in joy over the sweet and inspiring victory of our nation’s daughters, there’s one person who’s feeling the heat back home!

Shobhaa De, who made a notorious remark about our Olympic contingent last week, has been made to eat her words by the inspiring victories of Sakshi and Sindhu.

And it looks like she’s not taking it too well.

While India stands just one step short of a probable gold medal, the columnist decided to stoop a little lower and instead of lauding the shuttler, she decided to go for a cheeky tweet.

Here’s what her tweet read:

But tweeple were in no mood to let the columnist get away with something as tasteless as that and made sure she learns a lesson.

However, Shobhaa quickly went on the back foot soon after twitterverse took her case! Looks like she suddenly acknowledged Sindhu’s thumping victory over Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara and decided to float with the public sentiment.

Here’s what she posted immediately after the Twitter fiasco:

Better late than never, Shobhaa!
