Without Rohit Sharma in the playing eleven, things were going to be tough for Mumbai Indians from the onset, in their match against Kings XI Punjab.

However, West Indies’ Kieron Pollard rose to the occasion and smashed a 31-ball 83 to cement Mumbai Indians’ position in the match that they eventually won by 3 wickets.

The stand-in captain bagged another great record to his name. Needing 133 in last 10 overs, it was the first time a team chased anything more than 126 runs after half their innings, and won.

Twitter couldn’t stop applauding the batsman and his heroic innings and here are some of the best reactions.

After his insane match-winning knock, a humble Pollard said:

I would like to thank God. Need to thank him for giving strength to me for doing the things that I do. Also love to thank my wife, it’s her birthday today and I want to dedicate this to her.

What a classic innings!
