Ah… Childhood. A time when everything was magical and there were absolutely no taxes. Back then, we spent more time outside playing one sport or the other than inside the house doing homework, much to the chagrin of our mothers. At the time, we didn’t even need the proverbial drop of the hat to pick up a badminton racquet, bat and ball or swimming trunks and spend entire evenings with our friends, running around in our little shoes until we tired ourselves out.

And then, we adulted. Nowadays, our sports shoes spend more time on our shoe racks than on our feet. And I don’t know about you, but I think that is mighty sad. Can any of us honestly remember the last time we played a sport, nay, even thought of going outside with our friends other than for partying or eating?

We need to reflect and repair, people. Because if this survey conducted by PUMA and Virat Kohli is anything to go by, things are not very kosher at all.

1. I’m guilty as charged.

2. We all know by now that “lack of time” actually means “low priority.”

3. Goa FTW. Raipur, WTH?

4. Let’s make sports great again. See what I did there?

I know, I know. I can’t preach what I don’t practice. So you know what, I used to love to cycle when I was a kid. That cycle of mine is now in a junkyard somewhere. So here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to get a new cycle, a pair of good shoes and ride every day. And unlike most things I say, this time, I mean it. Who knows, I might be able to get a few friends of mine to join me. Because if Virat and Puma are calling us all to #COMEOUTANDPLAY, then I’m game. And why not? What’s better than stepping out of the four walls, enjoying the fresh air and hitting that much-needed refresh button. Let’s bring back the good old days, shall we?
