After Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 was pulled off shelves due to catching fire, and there were isolated reports of an Apple iPhone 7 bursting into flames, there is now a case of a Reliance Jio Lyf handset reportedly exploding in Jammu & Kashmir.
Tanvir Sadiq posted this on Twitter:

But the real high point in the drama came when J&K CM Omar Abdullah posted about the issue from his Twitter handle:
Glad everyone is safe Tanvir. This looks like it was a very narrow escape. I won’t be using my handset anytime soon, that’s for sure. https://t.co/gb9tXeD7aV

Tanvir, who, according to his Twitter page, is a ‘political secretary’ to the working president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, went on to post the following advice for other Lyf users:
All those people who have this @Reliance_LYF phone need to be very cautious and careful @reliancejio
— Tanvir Sadiq (@tanvirsadiq) November 6, 2016
He also demanded Reliance to take action:
@reliancejio this is serious & needs to be looked into immediately & all such phones need to be recalled immediately @Reliance_LYF

Reliance Jio has said that is investigating the matter and apologised for the inconvenience caused. A team from the company reportedly allegedly went to Tanvir’s house and spoke to him about the case, says this Financial Express report.
