1. Nahargarh Fort


The spirit of Nahar Singh Bhomia who built this fort still haunts this place.

This fort in Jaipur is considered to be haunted by the spirit of Nahar Singh Bhomia. It is claimed that when Maharaja Sawai Singh tried to renovate this fort, the spirit of Nahar Singh Bhomia was hurt, annoyed and disturbed. It is said that Nahar Singh Bhomia had originally built this magnificent structure for his wives. Some reports also suggests that an engineer who was given the responsibility for renovation of this palace died under mysterious circumstances recently. People believe that Nahar Singh Bhomia’s spirit still lingers around this fort. Now, no one is allowed to enter Nahargarh fort after sunset.

2. Jal Mahal Palace


Visitors claim to hear loud screams coming from inside the palace. 

This 300-year-old mansion is partially submerged in the Man Sagar Lake and it is now known to be one of the most haunted places in Jaipur. Four storeys of this palace is constructed below the water while the fifth story stands above the water. This palace has now been abandoned for many years due to its underwater construction and sewage problems. People have reportedly heard screams from inside the palace. They have also complained about feeling uneasy and eerie while exploring this place. Now, no one dares to go near the palace after sunset.

3. Delhi-Jaipur Highway


Beware of a woman dressed in a red saree and gold jewellery on this highway. 

Locals believe that a woman met with an accident on this highway near a dhaba that lies just 8 kilometers before reaching Jaipur. Commuters have reportedly seen the woman’s apparition while driving past this area. It is claimed that the spirit can be seen wearing a red saree with gold jewellery on her body. Many have complained about hearing the tinkling sounds of her jewellery. People also claim that the woman stands in front of the car and disappears into thin air when the car comes to a halt.

4. Jagatpura


It is said that the spirits of witches linger around this colony after sunset. 

This residential colony in Jaipur is believed to be haunted by witches and the dead villagers who died due to starvation. Local residents don’t come out of their houses at night because they believe that the witches walk around the streets after sunset. Many locals have reportedly seen a woman dressed in white with long hair. Locals have also complained about hearing cruel laughter and screams.

5. Bhangarh Fort


Visitors claim to have seen apparitions, heard screams, laughter and music coming from the fort at night. 

This palace lies between Jaipur and Alwar and it is the only fort in India that is termed ‘legally haunted’ by the Archaeological Survey of India. Visitors have reported sightings, ghostly noises, screams, cruel laughter and the sound of music coming from the fort at night. Many visitors have also complained about feeling the presence of something negative and evil. No one is allowed to enter this place after 5 PM.

6. Brij Raj Bhawan


The spirit of a British major who was killed by Indian soldiers still lingers around this palace. 

This colonial palace that has now been converted into a heritage hotel, is situated in Kota, that lies 4 hours away from Jaipur. It is believed that the spirit of a British major named Major Charles Burton who was killed in the 1857 revolt by Indian soldiers still haunts this place. Visitors claim that they have been yelled at and slapped by the spirit of Major Charles Burton. According to reports, people have also heard loud noises, stomping of feet and other inexplicable noises.

7. Kuldhara Village


Visitors claim to see apparitions and hear strange noises in this abandoned village. 

This abandoned village lies in close proximity to Jaipur. It is believed that the villagers did not adhere to the demands and conditions of an evil tax collector so they decided to collectively flee the village, fearing his rage. Now, this village is said to be cursed. People have complained about hearing strange, ghostly sounds and they have reportedly seen apparitions. Visitors have also claimed that they can hear villagers talking and whispering.
