There were two things my mother always told me. 

“Be more ladylike.”

and

“Why can’t you be more ladylike?”

She tried very hard to make me more graceful. More charming. More elegant. But I sucked at being a ‘lady’ because I didn’t quite understand what it meant. As I grew older and wiser into a bigger disappointment for my parents, I figured out my own rules to be more ladylike.

It’s okay if you can’t do it like a lady. Do it like a boss.
