We are always so busy with something or the other that we often forget to take care of ourselves. And one thing that suffers the effect of this neglect the most is our tresses. What with all that pollution and smog in most of the metro cities. However, going to a parlour is a costly affair and regular hair spas is out of the question for most of us. Oh and finding the time to go to a salon is another story altogether.

Well, worry not because here’s a list of DIY home spas that include ingredients right out of your kitchen, that have been tried and tested AND will repair your hair like no costly spa can! 

Find your hair problem and get to fixing it already:

1. If you find more hair on your hairbrush than you’d like to see, you should give this a try.

Directions:

  • Heat oil and one teaspoon of tea together till you have a warm mixture.
  • Run the mixture through a sieve and add a beetroot to it.
  • Massage the mixture into your hair.
  • Make sure everything from the roots to the ends is covered. Keep it on for 30 minutes.
  • Rinse with a mild shampoo

2. If you can’t run your fingers through your hair effortlessly, you need to give this a try.

Directions:

  • Add a small cup of olive oil and one egg white to a peeled banana. Put it in a blender.
  • Apply it on the hair and give it 20 minutes.
  • Rinse with mild shampoo and conditioner.

3. If you feel like your hair is always weighed down because of all that oil, this is probably the solution to your problem.

Directions:

  • Add two tablespoon of beer/vodka to one cup of curd. Mix one teaspoon of vinegar to the mixture if you wish to.
  • Apply the mixture to your hair and leave it for 20 minutes.
  • Wash with a mild shampoo.

4. This rather rampant problem of dandruff can be solved by regularly applying this magic combo. 

Directions:

  • Blend two teaspoons of olive oil with two bananas.
  • Apply it to your hair and keep it on for 30 minutes.
  • Wash the mixture out with warm water.
  • After the mixture has been completely washed out, use a mild shampoo for the next wash.

5. If your hair look weak and is susceptible to breakage, give it this potion for nourishment.

Directions:

  • Mix one tablespoon of honey with one glass of raw milk.
  • Make sure you massage it into your hair instead of just a regular application.
  • Let it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing it with warm water.
  • Use a mild shampoo once the mixture has been rinsed out of your hair.

6. Some of us have managed to destroy our hair with chemicals, heat and what not. Here’s how you can fix it all.

Directions:

  • Make a paste of one egg white with two tablespoons of olive oil and four pieces of cucumber.
  • Massage it into your hair and leave it for 30 minutes.
  • Rinse with warm water and use a mild shampoo afterwards.

7. Always wondered how ’em split ends always catch? Well, don’t worry even if they do because here’s a recipe to fix them.

Directions:

  • Mix one tablespoon of coconut oil and one egg white.
  • Heat the mixture till it’s warm.
  • Apply to your hair and let it sit for 30 to 40 minutes.
  • Wash with a mild shampoo.

8. Have you been trying to grow your hair for the longest time? Give this a try and see the magic.

Directions:

  • Mix one teaspoon each of coconut oil and lemon juice with 3 teaspoons of aloe vera gel.
  • Apply it to your hair and give it 20 minutes.
  • Rinse using a mild shampoo.

9. It’s so tough to add some life to your hair, isn’t it? Let’s see how this one works.

Directions:

  • Soak fenugreek (methi) seeds overnight and make a paste of it in the morning.
  • Mix one tablespoon honey with two tablespoons of curd and add one tablespoon of the fenugreek paste to it.
  • Apply it to your hair and keep it on for 45 minutes.
  • Rinse using normal water and mild shampoo.

10. And this is the basic routine you absolutely need in order to take care of your tresses.

Directions:

  • Apply a good quantity of olive oil on your hair. Cover everything from the roots to the ends.
  • Soak a towel in warm water and wrap it around your hair.
  • Keep it for 30 minutes.
  • Rinse with a mild shampoo.
