Tennis champion Naomi Osaka has scripted history by defeating Petra Kvitova in the Australian Open. The grand-slam winner is now the first-ever Asian player (male or female) to hold the world’s top spot in tennis.

Words can’t describe this feeling.

She is also now the first female tennis player to win two consecutive grand slams. The first being the controversial US Open in New York where she defeated Serena Williams in September, resulting in boos and tears.

Two grand-slams back to back is no fluke and this historic win allowed Osaka to prove just that.

Osaka’s coach, Sasha Bajin had previously remarked about the player amid the controversy surrounding her:

“I know she wants to prove everybody that it wasn’t like a fluke or anything.”

The internet too congratulated Osaka, not just on her win but her attitude on and off the court.
