This Friday, India saw history being written, as Navjot Kaur became the first Indian woman wrestler to win a gold in the Asian Wrestling Championships, in the 65kg freestyle category in Bishkek.

Navjot beat Japan’s Miya Imai with a score of 9-1 to bag the gold; which was also India’s first gold in the ongoing championship.
The current medal tally for India stands at 6, which includes a gold, a silver and four bronze medals.

28-year old Navjot put up a great fight, a testament to the fact that she has had a considerable experience in the field.
She had earlier won a silver at the Asian Championships in 2013 and a bronze in 2014 Commonwealth Games in 67kg.

Indian female wrestlers are definitely throwing great punches, with Sakshi winning a bronze and Vinesh Phogat winning a silver.
Even Twitter was abound with congratulatory messages for the dedicated wrestler.
