They wanted to do something special to find out the gender of their baby, something that is true to who they are, so they decided to go for something so over the top that it split the internet into two opposing sides.

In a strange albeit unique announcement, Jamie Indiveri and her fiance Keith Batchelder decided to take an explosive approach to reveal the gender of their baby.

So what did they do which caused this schism on social media? Well, it involved a labelled box, tannerite, coloured chalk power and a rifle. We’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

See? We told you it was explosive. Traci Ball, a friend of the couple, and the photographer Anna Elizabeth were the only ones to know about the gender before the parents-to-be. They helped set the whole thing up.

Blue for a boy and pink for a girl. Guess we don’t need to tell you which one it was, do we.

While Jamie and Keith were overjoyed to know that it’s a bouncing baby boy they’re expecting, the internet was a little less pleased. It bared it’s bi-polar fangs, praising and dismissing the couple’s strange reveal.

And some people followed suit.

So what do you guys think? Was it excessive and unnecessary or does it make you feel all warm and happy inside. Let us know.
