Recently, singer Sona Mohapatra raised concerns over music composer Anu Malik's continued association with the reality show Indian Idol, despite the fact that there were sexual harassment allegations against him.
Consequently, Anu Malik has reportedly stepped down as a judge from the show.
Last year Anu Malik was accused of sexual misconduct and removed as a judge from the show. However, he returned as a judge for season 11.
This is when Sona Mohapatra called out Sony Pictures International for reinstating him as a judge and many people came out in her support.
After Anu Malik stepped down, Sona also took to Twitter to thank people for supporting her.
Thank you to all the women & men & the media of India who supported our campaign #MoveOutMalik . A repeat offender like Anu Malik on national tv triggered a lot of trauma, pain & stress in many of our lives. I have been ill for a while & I hope to sleep well tonight. 🙏🏾— ShutUpSona (@sonamohapatra) November 21, 2019
As of now, the show has not released any information about any future associations with him.
Update: According to HT, Anu Malik confirmed that he has taken a three-week-long break from Indian Idol to 'clear his name', but has not 'quit the show'.
