Working in the Indian Armed Forces is one of the most respected professions in the country. They put their lives at risk on the borders to keep us safe. In a country like ours, one would believe that we must have had a number of shows based around the armed forces. Sadly, that’s not true. 

We’ve made a compilation of Indian shows with military backgrounds that every Indian Army fan should watch.

1. Fauji

Fauji is famous because it was Shah Rukh Khan’s debut as an actor in a lead role. Fauji is the coming-of-age story of Lt. Abhimanyu Rai who learns how to become a good army officer. With a very well written script and brilliant acting, Fauji is one of the best Indian TV shows of all time.


2. Left Right Left

Left Right Left started off as a story of vengeance where a sister joins a military academy just to find out who framed her brother. This story took a dramatic turn soon with sub-plots related to terrorism, espionage and sleeper cells. Left Right Left shows us that Indian youngsters can make a huge difference in the army.


3. Sea Hawks

Milind Soman and Madhavan starrer Sea Hawks provided us a brilliant insight into the lives of those who serve in the Indian Navy. The Navy is one of the lesser known divisions of the armed forces but Sea Hawks did a phenomenal job of capturing what it exactly takes to be a member of the Indian Navy.


4. Saara Akaash

Saara Akaash was about the Indian Air Force and how three new recruits have to adapt themselves to serve the country. It’s about friendships, patriotism and the strong will to serve the country.


5. Param Vir Chakra

Param Vir Chakra was an anthology of the different real-life stories of the recipients of the Param Vir Chakra gallantry awards. Every episode will move to tears as you find out about the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers.


6. Chhoona Hai Aasmaan

Chhoona Hai Aasmaan was about six Indian Air Force officers who form a team called the HAWKS. Their primary duty was to protect the country for any sort of aerial attack by the terrorists.


7. Aarohan

Aarohan was a drama based around the life of Pallavi Joshi’s character who used to serve in the Indian Navy. It was a fresh take on the lives of those who serve in the Indian Navy.


8. Ajnabi

Ajnabi was about the insurgence in Kashmir during the late 80s and early 90s. This lesser known show stars Danny Denzongpa and was rooted in the realities of what happens in Kashmir. 


9. Samandar

Samandar was a show about the Indian Navy which was made by the guys who served in the Navy. The first hand accounts of the Naval officers elevates the script of the show. 


10. Tujhpe Dil Qurbaan

A special unit of the Indian army which was dedicated to breaking these sleeper cells formed the crux of Tujhpe Dil Qurbaan. This was a very desi version of 24 before 24 even existed.
