The Calbuco volcano in Chile, which had been dormant for about half a century, erupted twice today. The area is 1000 km south of the capital city of Santiago and is near to the tourist town of Puerto Varas.

More than 5000 people have evacuated the region and a curfew has been declared.

And here’s a time-lapse of the eruption.

Nature can be quite scary when she wants to.
